vIT is currently working on a short video which explores the power and benefits of using video to train remote staff in the retail sector. The video is to be shown to attendees at the forthcoming Retail Manager Solutions User Group Conference.

In a demanding environment, particularly a downturn, it’s product knowledge and customer service that set ‘bricks and mortar’ retailers apart from their internet competitors. And yet a survey commissioned by the Adult Learning Initiative found that 7 out of 10 shoppers had gone home without making a purchase because they found sales staff to be lacking. A new service being offered by the RMS/vIT partnership aims to ensure that all store staff are armed with the knowledge they need to satisfy customer expectations.

The video explains how short, punchy videos delivered straight to the store can reduce onsite training costs, raise product and process knowledge and instantly communicate success, concern or change.

“The argument for video in the retail operations world is simple.” says Ian Stark, founder of vIT. “Video gets your message out to a distributed audience more quickly, more engagingly and at a comparatively low cost to the business. Given that 85% of people are visual and/or auditory learners, and the average adult has an uninterrupted attention span of around 8 seconds, it makes sense for training materials to be visually appealing and be kept short and to the point. That’s what our new service is all about – concise, relevant videos delivered regularly”.

The video will be posted on the vIT site after the conference.
