Green (or blue) screen filming involves shooting the subject against a green (yes, or blue) background which can be 'keyed out' and replaced with any other background. It's the same principal used to display the weather presenter in front of an animated weather map and to make Superman fly.
Our studio facilities include a permanent green screen, with optimal lighting to get a perfect key every time. We also have portable facilities and with care we can get just as good results, depending on the location.
There are numerous uses for green screen filming:
- displaying a presenter in front of a PowerPoint presentation, an animation or other image.
- giving the appearance of the presenter being somewhere they are not. A practical example of this was an occasion where the presenter had to appear as though she was standing on the shop floor of a busy department store. Because the background noise was too overpowering we filmed a five minute sequence in fixed locations on the shop floor, then filmed the speaker in front of a green screen, then composited the two together.
- filming a piece of equipment and showing what it might look like in a particular situation.
- you may require a different background for different audiences or situations. Being able to composite the speaker with any background you choose means you can have multiple versions of your video without having to shoot the same sequence multiple times.
- when you need to update a presentation with the latest information - with a green screen recording of the spaker you can simply drop the new graphics in to the video.
